My photos show my love of the outdoors, sports, and animals. The photo of sailing the sunfish was a cool, cloudy, and windy day (The launching beach is protected and looks calm - wait till you hit the ocean.) . I crash thru the breakers, ride the ocean, then ride in like a surfboard. The boat literally surfs! The sail gives it just enough speed to catch a wave and then it rides the breakers in. The waves sing a song from some heavenly world.
Another photo shows me about to dive into a freshwater canal. I'll do some 30 or 40 dives in one day. After all those climbs back up the steep wall.....I'll be sleepin' well tonight.
The turtle in the picture I found only a couple days old. He had washed downstream to the ocean. I kept him a couple years at my parent's house. He'd swim with me in the swimming pool on weekends. When my parents moved, I set him free in a nearby lake. Three years later, he still comes up to greet me.
I love travel, and am well equipped for it. I have a mitsubshi van, converted into a campervan. It's a lot like the legendary Westfalia VW campervan, a/k/a "the Greatful Dead van" or hippie van. Practically speaking, I didn't like the layout of the VW, so I engineered my own. The VW has a hardmounted sink and stove - who wants to cook inside a van? I'd rather set the coleman stove by the river. It's great being able to travel at night and sleep without having to set up a tent or hassle with a hotel. Campsites are great when staying for any length of time, but the van helps cover the distance. Lots of storage is a big plus, something the VW is completely lacking. Playing my Woodstock concert tape, wearing a "yin and yang" t-shirt, jeans, and flannel, heck, one might think I do drugs or something. But I am most definately drug-free. I guess I just get high on life. Swimming at dawn in a cold mountain stream before a long mountain hike, to me is the best life has to offer.
When in Florida I live on my 46' sailboat at my brother's marina. Both were my Dad's. He passed away a few years ago. I love biking down the Riverwalk to the beach, busy Las Olas restaurants, and Borders Books. I'd love to sail the Bahamas again. Everyone is too busy. I don't want to go alone. Somebody twist my arm and make me sail the Bahamas pulease!
I do a LOT of reading. I am most interested in metaphysics, such as books on Near Death Experiences and the profound insights gained. I am wise and have a deep understanding of life. I am calm, peaceful, not easily angered. Yet I think the essense of life is being joyful, happy, spontaneous. I am more irreverent than reverent. Born-Again- Christian types seem serious and sanguine. To me, there archaic dogma and is just another cult that discourages thinking. I have learned a great deal about the history of religion and about such things as how reincarnation was accepted by many early christians. Religious fanatics don't even want to know.
I would like to make metaphysics more accessable to the masses. I find that trying to explain it to most people is like trying to explain Einstein's Relativity with just basic math - plus/minus. Because, by analogy, most people understand life only in basic terms. Metaphysics explains why things happen to us, from the deepest source, while most people simply blame outside circumstances instead of taking responsibility for there lives.
I believe that there isn't a problem in the world that cannot be evaporated away with wisdom and understanding. Like the Cold War, after 50 years of enlightening journalism, the problem vanished, the walls torn down.
I worked as a Certified Public Accountant at the family marina. I wasn't meant for accounting. I mean I'm good with numbers, but I'm not foolish enough to do it all the time. Just like I refuse to be just another Humanoid sitting in I-95 gridlock traffic. I demand more from life. I'm shifting gears, finding ways to tap my life's passions.
I'd like to build a house or maybe run a small farm in some beautiful, unspoiled place. A log home construction business would be nice. Log homes always seem to be built in beautiful settings. I LOVE working with my hands all day - in the rain - in the snow - CHALLENGE ME! I learned much about carpentry from my father. I enjoy sports, but building something constructive is more satisfying.
More importantly though, I feel a sense of destiny. Some non-profit foundations sit on BILLIONS of dollars, because they haven't a clue how to change the world. Oh, they'll dole out some scholarships, perhaps help preserve some old films for posterity, or build an aquarium in San Francisco. But none of this does anything to CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY.
Think of world history as a freight train barreling down the tracks. An idealist says the world should be completely revised, and he pushes sideways on the train, hoping to alter its course, but of course it does not budge. The World Citizen Organization, for instance, for 50 years has tried to dispose of all governments and make everyone a World Citizen.
I, on the other hand, look to the track that has yet to be laid, and seek to SLIGHTLY influence its direction. With enough small changes, the course of history can be turned 90 degrees.
How? ... Stay tuned ....
